How Tonight’s Sacrifice works

  1. Light the candle. One tap pulls a horror film for tonight from a library of 350, from the 1920s to now. Narrow it down first if you have a mood, a scare level or a decade in mind.
  2. Turn the card. The back of every card holds a relic: a true story from the making of the film, with the source linked.
  3. Keep the streak. Pull a card every night. Seven nights makes you a Novice. Thirty-one makes you a Saint.
  4. Join the Congregation. Unlimited pulls, your whole deck saved, and the weekend pick every Friday by email or text.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free with no account. Your cards and your streak are saved on the device you use.

Where do the films come from?

A library of 350 horror films from the 1920s to now, the same one behind our 31 Nights of Screams. Each film is tagged by kind and rated 1 to 5 for how hard it hits. Release years and directors were checked against a public film database.

Are the fun facts true?

Every fact on the back of a card links to its source, and we only use reputable ones: interviews, trade papers and film archives. If we cannot source a story, it does not go on a card. Films still waiting for a fact show horror trivia instead.

Where can I watch the film?

Every card has a Where to watch button that searches JustWatch for every streaming service, rental and purchase option where you live.

What is the house card?

One film everybody gets tonight. We post it every evening on Instagram, Facebook and Threads, so you can watch along with the rest of the Congregation.

What does joining the Congregation do?

You get unlimited pulls, your whole deck saved, and the weekend pick every Friday by email or text, picked for your taste. Members also get first dibs on every merch drop. Unsubscribe or reply STOP whenever you like.

How do streaks and ranks work?

Pull a card on consecutive nights to build a streak. Seven nights makes you a Novice, 13 Devout, 21 a Martyr and 31 a Saint.
